What We've Been Learning About...

Sports Carnivals 2019
The Kindy/Pre-Primary Sports Tabloid Event in Week 7 was a great success and luckily the weather held off for us. We were very proud of our students and their efforts to participate in the 12 different sports activities.  The points total was tallied and the K/P Carnival Cup was awarded to Orange Faction at the whole school event. A big thank you to all who came to support us on the day.

This year, our whole school carnival was held on Friday 6th September and the Pre-Primary students participated in the march past and flat races.  We have some superstar athletes in the making. Well done to all our students for competing in the running races.  It sure was an exciting day! We’d like to extend our congratulations to Purple Faction for winning the overall event on the day.
Assembly
We are so incredibly proud of all the students from Rooms 6 and 9 for hosting the assembly during Week 9.  It is a big responsibility and a little nerve racking for some children when they see their audience, however those with a speaking role did extremely well. All the children stole the show with their costumes.  Thank you once again for your cooperation and support with preparing for our special event.  As mentioned on the day, poetry has been a big focus within our school this term and that’s why we decided a poetry recital would be fitting.  We hope you enjoyed our performance of Little Red.  We hope you had the chance to also view the WOW Writing Board.  During our recent Big Write session, the students had written a retell of the fairytale.  We are immensely pleased with the progress we’ve seen in their writing skills this term and we hope you are equally as proud.  We will have the board available at our Learning Journey this Tuesday, so if you didn’t get the chance you will have another opportunity to read these incredible pieces.
Learning Journey

An invitation and a parent note was sent home last week inviting you to attend your child’s Learning Journey on Tuesday 24th September.  The event commences in our classroom at 2pm and will conclude at 3.30pm.  Children will still need to be picked up at the normal time of 2.30pm.

Learning Journey Day is an opportunity for your child to showcase to you some of the activities and learning experiences they have had at school.  It is intended to be a positive reflection on their achievements, capabilities and growth this year.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Dancing
Next term we will be participating in weekly dance lessons through Humphrey’s Dance School.  It is important for students to participate as the dances will be performed at our end of year Dance Party.  It also becomes part of our fitness programme and, it helps improve their coordination skills, teaches them how to move rhythmically as well as support their gross motor development.  Please ensure that permission forms and payment have been returned to school by this Friday 27th September.

School Holidays
It has been a busy, busy term and we are all due for a well-deserved break to re-energise for the final term ahead.  With that being said... it is still very important for children to maintain their skills so we encourage you to spend a little time reading together, perhaps write a recount of a special day out and practise some simple addition and subtraction sums within 10.  It will make all the difference coming back into Term 4.  Please have a safe and enjoyable holiday and we will see you all back to begin Term 4 on Monday 14th October.
